Microsoft Copilot Chat provides data protection for all OSU employees and currently enrolled students.

What Is It?

Microsoft Copilot Chat is an OSU recommended and approved generative AI tool similar to ChatGPT. It can assist with tasks such as writing, data analysis, summarization, and brainstorming.

Data Protection and Privacy

By logging in with their OSU credentials, university employees and currently enrolled students can use Copilot Chat with “Enterprise data protection” enabled. This ensures that their conversations are secure, and that Oregon State University data remains protected.

The approved OSU data classification for Copilot Chat is up to Confidential. Avoid uploading personally identifiable information (PII) when using Copilot Chat. While the system is approved for use with unrestricted, sensitive, and confidential data, it is not intended for processing PII.

To reach Copilot Chat, go to Copilot and log in using your OSU credentials.
