Motorcycle Crashes Case Study

Presentation Abstract

This seminar is a presentation and open discussion of motorcycle crash causation factors. Students will learn about motorcycle rider education, the four basic types of fatal motorcycle crashes, real-world examples of common crash scenarios and a “hotspot” located in Lane County, Ore. Discussion will focus on the hotspot, possible causes of motorcycle crashes and potential engineering countermeasures.

Speaker Bio

Patrick is interested in the evaluation of motorcycle safety programming and curricula; evaluation of student outcomes of rider training; understanding motorcyclist exposure as related to licensure, motorcycle ownership, demographics, riding behaviors, geography and miles traveled. For Team Oregon, he is responsible for internal and external communications including strategic planning, brand management, media and public relations, website management, curriculum development, program evaluation, stakeholder engagement and community outreach.
