As an online class, it is very important to stay organized. This class generally follows this structure:

1. Discussions and Reply posts for each segment. You will need to post your own response to the question posted for each segment and then also post a reply post to another student's post. Each segment's postings are worth 20 points total per post/reply, ie up to 10 points for your post and up to 10 points for your reply to another student's post. To get full points for both your post and your reply posts, you must cite to at least 2 sources from the readings. Your post is due on Wednesday of the week. Your reply post is due by the following Saturday of the week.

2. Quizzes 10 total for the term. Due the last day of the term but I suggest you do each week along with your readings so the information is fresh.

3. Applications/Research Papers. 5 total for the term.

Normally the quizzes and discussion posts are done on a weekly basis with the applications every two weeks over a ten week term. But, if this is a summer term class, there are two less weeks than in a normal term. As such, I have made the discussion posts, application assignments and quizzes available ahead of time during the term. They can be before the assigned due dates during the term but you must hit your due dates as they come up. It is ok to work ahead however.

To start this class, make sure that you look through what is required well ahead of time and make sure that you know what to do each week.

I would also recommend that you look ahead at the discussion posts and the applications. All of the discussion topics and applications are in the "Course Schedule" PDF and/or doc.x posting on above.

It would be a good idea to get a jump up on the discussion postings and applications. In fact, a very motivated person could sit down over a weekend and a big pot of coffee and hammer most of them out.
