Resources for Students In Need

For students needing academic help:

  • There are many resources available at the OSU Academic Success Center, including live chat to answer questions and academic success coaches.
  • COB also maintains a list of tutoring resources (both free and private/paid).

The following specific resources may be helpful for students needing assistance with physical, mental health, or other basic needs:

  • Student Care Team: the first place to go if you have significant concerns about a student's welfare and/or mental health. The Care team can consult with you directly about the student, or you can also find more resources in the Care Folder Links to an external site..
  • For COB students, please complete this early alert survey to alert COB Advising (and Student Engagement) if you have been unable to reach a student about whom you have concern for their academic success or personal well being.  For questions about the alert system, please contact Charlie Carr (advising).
  • The OSU Basic Needs Center may be able to help students needing access to technology (laptops), as well as basic needs including food security support: https://experience.oregonstate.edu/well-being/basic-needs
  • Ecampus recommends that online students contact the Director of Care in the office of the Dean of Students for support (Student Care Inquiry, 541-737-8748). They also suggest scheduling an appointment with an Ecampus success coach  Links to an external site.or reaching out to their student services team Links to an external site..
  • The COB maintains an emergency scholarship program for student in need (available during Fall/Winter/Spring terms). Students can access information about scholarships here.
  • If you have a student who needs support with their finances, including information about emergency scholarships or aid, you can refer them to the Center for Advancing Financial Education (CAFE) Links to an external site.. This is a one-stop financial wellness center providing services to the OSU community and beyond. CAFE understands that everyone’s financial situation is unique—they provide advice, and help students get the resources and information they need to navigate college and/or make sound financial decisions. They provide free services such as one-on-one appointments, self-study modules, presentations, and coursework. Topics include paying for college and all that it entails (billing, financial aid, scholarships, resources, and more), creating a budget, post-college financial planning and much more! They have trained student mentors, professional staff, and a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) on the team to help with more advanced financial needs. Students can set-up an appointment with one of the COB CAFE advisors, which can be done here Links to an external site..
  • Refer Cascades students to Katelyn Hagel (Katelyn.Hagel@oregonstate.edu). She helps process financial aid, military/veteran benefits, and does general “paying for college” support.
  • You can refer international students to INTO’s academic success website Links to an external site.. It has information for both INTO and non-INTO international students.
