Military Deployment Policy
We occasionally have students who are called up to military service or training while enrolled at OSU. There are federal and state laws that protect our military student populations and our university protocols have been in line with those laws. To that end, OSU recently updated our policy for students ordered to federal or state active duty, or called to unit training assembly or annual training, while enrolled in courses. This policy aims to provide these students with options to continue their studies at OSU with minimal barriers during or following their deployment. It is in line with state and federal laws related to student deployment. Further, this policy outlines appropriate guidelines for instructors should a student enrolled in one’s course elect to continue and complete a course for credit. Please take a few moments to read this policy at the military deployment web page.
If you have questions about this policy or about steps students should take to prepare for deployment or reservist training, please contact Kristin Benson at kristin.benson@oregonstate.edu or Autumn Landis at autumn.landis@oregonstate.edu. In addition, we are happy to come to any departmental meetings to discuss further or answer questions.
