How do we get accurate information that will help us be informed voters?

Look directly at the candidates' website.

Look for neutral sources that make an effort to state facts (like posting a candidate's voting record) rather than rhetoric. Look into how these sources are funded, what their mission statement is, and what groups endorse the source.

If there are news sources that you "trust", that tend to have a similar world view to you, or that seem closer to neutral or unbiased to you, the information may be more valuable to you. It may also be valuable to check out news sources that you believe to be biased, as long as you keep the bias in mind:

Talk to people you respect about the issues and candidates.

Read endorsements or other information from groups that you respect. For example, you may respect your political party and want to read information shared by that party. You may respect particular newspapers and want to see what issues and candidates they endorse.

Go to websites of causes that care about. What is their endorsement.
